    How the System Is Built

The actual layers and materials — and why each one matters for the finished floor.

    1. 1
      Heavy degrease + shot blast

Existing shop floors are saturated with motor oil, brake fluid, and gear lube — sometimes for decades. We degrease aggressively, then shot-blast to expose clean, bondable concrete.

    2. 2
      Crack and joint repair

Shop slabs see lift bases and jack-stand point loads. We repair cracks with industrial semi-rigid polyurea and chase joints that have spalled under wheel load.

    3. 3
      Quartz-loaded epoxy slurry

Industrial epoxy with broadcast quartz aggregate provides the impact resistance needed for dropped tools, jack stands, and lift bases.

    4. 4
      Chemical-resistant polyaspartic topcoat

Two coats of chemical-resistant polyaspartic, tuned to the oils, brake fluids, and automotive chemicals the shop sees daily. Anti-slip additive in the final coat.

    5. 5
      Safety striping (optional)

Bay outlines, walkway lanes, and lift centerlines inlaid into the topcoat — permanent and won't wear off.

    Benefits

What this system actually delivers in daily use.

    • Resists motor oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and degreaser without staining
    • Impact-rated for dropped tools, jack stands, and lift bases
    • Oil wipes clean with shop rags — no soak-in, no permanent staining
    • Anti-slip texture stays safe even when shop floor is wet or has oil residue
    • Bay striping and walkway lanes inlaid permanently for organization and safety
    • Brightens the shop dramatically by reflecting overhead light off a clean surface

Our Process for Auto Shop & Mechanic Floor Coating

    Step-by-step from consultation through return-to-service.

    1. 1
      Shop consultation

We walk the shop during operating hours, note lift positions, drain locations, and chemical exposure. Discuss phasing around your busiest bays.

    2. 2
      Phased prep

One bay at a time so the shop stays operational. Degrease, shot-blast, crack repair.

    3. 3
      Quartz buildup + topcoat

Industrial epoxy with broadcast quartz, then chemical-resistant polyaspartic topcoat. Each bay returns to service 48 hours after final coat.

    4. 4
      Striping and walkthrough

Bay outlines and walkway lanes inlaid into the topcoat. Final walkthrough with shop manager.

    What to Expect

An auto shop floor built correctly lasts 15-20 years under daily mechanic work. The chemistry has to match the exposure — automotive chemicals are aggressive and a generic commercial epoxy topcoat won't hold up. Our polyaspartic is specified for the use case. Maintenance is end-of-day sweep, weekly degreaser scrub on the worst spots, and a topcoat refresh on heavily worked bays every 5-7 years if needed. In DFW we frequently coat shops with concrete that's been soaked in oil for decades — the prep takes longer on those, but the finish comes out the same. The biggest mistake is trying to spot-coat one bay with a hardware-store kit; without proper prep it peels within months and contaminates the rest of the shop.
